The 16th edition exceeds expectations with increased exhibitors supporting the Montreal event

Dec. 18, 2013

Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo (CWRE) closed its doors after two days with an increased number of distinguished exhibitors and a host of prominent attendees

The 16th edition of CWRE showcased 207 exhibitors from 5 countries, a 14 percent increase from the event in 2011 located in Montreal.

The event showcased exhibitors from Canada, the United States, The Netherlands, Austria and Italy focused on all aspects of collection, hauling and processing of waste and recycling programs.

Creating a comprehensive show experience, CWRE welcomed a total of 2,208 attendees from 16 countries.  Visitors discovered products, services and technologies offered by exhibitors through hands-on demonstrations, discovered new industry innovations and networked with peers during the many special events.

“The increase in exhibitors and quality of attendees demonstrated that Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo continues to be one of the most important industry events for the waste, recycling and public works markets in North America,” says Dennis Smith, President of Messe Frankfurt Inc. “We registered new and returning decision makers from municipalities and renowned companies such as the Miller Waste Systems, Costco, Region of Peel, Progessive Waste Solutions Ltd and IKEA, as well as leaders in the educational and engineering fields that benefit from the environmental technologies offered at CWRE” remarked Smith.

Canadian Waste Sector Symposium program receives positive reviews

Canadian Waste Sector Symposium (CWSS), produced by the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA), in cooperation with Réseau Environnement and the Conseil des entreprises en technologies environnementales du Québec (CETEQ) was again co-located with CWRE.

This much anticipated educational program offered attendees the opportunity to gain insight on current trends facing the industry. The 2½ day CWSS event included a variety of waste sector facility tours and 2 days of sessions covering a broad range of case studies and relevant topics.

“We are enjoying another successful event in Montreal.  The 2013 Canadian Waste Sector Symposium (CWSS) hosted nearly 280 registered delegates during the symposium, two tours (11 facilities), six keynote and 44 speakers in total. We continue to be the focal point for the waste management sector across Canada to meet and discuss important and emerging sector issues,” said Robert Cook, Chief Executive Officer, Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA).

High praise for special networking events

The Conseil des entreprises en technologies environnementales du Québec (CETEQ) hosted the EnviroLys 2013 as an added benefit to exhibitors and attendees during the Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo, which celebrated excellence in the environmental sector. The event honors companies that contribute everyday to improve the environment and the economy.

CWRE partners with Compost Council of Canada hosting their annual general meeting and luncheon at the event. Focusing on the latest developments and growth in this exciting segment, the Compost Council of Canada was pleased with the high level of participation from professionals in the Quebec area.

The seventeenth edition of the Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo will be held November 19 – 20, 2013 at the International Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
