“As our society faces ever-increasing volumes of waste and a growing carbon footprint, the promotion of energy saving and waste reduction has become a priority for us all,” said HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau. “In response to strong market demand for waste management schemes and environmental innovation, this year’s fair will embrace the theme of “Less Carbon, Less Waste • Green Innovation”, and will showcase a wide range of environmental products and solutions, in particular waste management and energy efficiency from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Asia and the global green tech community.”
Developments in forming the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ‒ a scheme to link the cities of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing into an integrated economic and business hub ‒ are progressing rapidly. Cities in the Area are eager to showcase some of their latest environmental solutions and grab business opportunities on offer at the fair. Key environmental players within the Greater Bay Area will be highlighted through a series of pavilions and exhibits, offering an insight into how the region will be transformed into a more liveable and low-carbon environment. The presence of government officials and business leaders from the Greater Bay Area at the fair also underscores the good opportunities for businesses to provide quality sourcing options of environmental protection solutions to this growing market.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a series of signature events have been selected by the HKSAR government to celebrate, which includes Eco Expo Asia. A number of senior government officials from the Central Government will be invited to join the opening ceremony and attend the fair, bolstering the profile of the 2019 show.
High-profile exhibitors and national pavilions make their return
Recognising the potential of the Greater Bay Area concept, leading exhibitors have already confirmed their participation at the show together with numerous overseas companies joining group pavilions. These exhibitors include Advanced Eco Engineering, Baguio Green Group, China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Investment, E. Tech Dynamic, Nano and Advanced Materials Institute, the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification, SUEZ NWS, to name a few. Waste management solutions, e-trucks and the latest nano technologies and testing instruments are just some of the products and solutions of interest that will be exhibited.
Pavilions from Mainland China including those from the Greater Bay Area, as well as those from Europe and Switzerland have confirmed their presence at the Expo. Mr Anthony Chow, CEO, Associated Environmental Systems Ltd, exhibitor in the Switzerland Pavilion, shared more about why they will be returning to the fair once more: “Eco Expo Asia is the most renowned exhibition regarding environmental protection in the region. Last year we met visitors from various sectors including property developers, environmental technology companies and government departments. We will return this year as the fair is able to provide the appropriate profile of visitors and potential customers and is gaining in popularity both locally and overseas, particularly in China.”
Taking place in Hong Kong for the first time this year will be the 8th IWA-ASPIRE conference and exhibition. Located at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 31 October ‒ 2 November with the theme of “Smart Solutions for Water Resilience”, the high-level gathering will welcome over 1,000 participants from around the world, creating strong synergy with the Eco Expo Asia. Experts from across the water sector will be situated in Hong Kong during the fair period, demonstrating the strong international reputation the city enjoys in attracting high-level events.
Eco Expo Asia 2019 will be held from 30 October ‒ 2 November at AsiaWorld-Expo. For more information, please email ecoexpo@hongkong.messefrankfurt.com or exhibitions@hktdc.org, or visit www.ecoexpoasia.com.
